Models Revised and Updated

I spent the past couple weeks giving Models a long overdue update and revision. All in all, I cut out about 30 pages and added another 10. Overall, the book is not significantly different from the previous version, so if you’ve read it once and have kept up with the blog, then there’s not any new earth-shaking content. All previous buyers will be receiving an email with the new version of the book later today.

The list of changes:

  • The book’s subtitle is now “Attract Women Through Honesty” rather than “A Comprehensive Guide to Attracting Women.”
  • Fixed at least a couple dozen small grammatical and wording errors. Cleaned up and shortened the wording in many places.
  • Removed some assumptions about female evolutionary behavior in the beginning of Chapter 1, and reworded it in places to make it more gender-neutral.
  • Added a major section of The Pain Period to the pain period section in Chapter 3.
  • Clarified some language in Chapter 4 about honesty and boundaries.
  • Removed entire “Treasure Hunt” section from Chapter 6.
  • Removed a number of paragraphs in Chapter 6 about accepting rejection. The whole chapter was fairly redundant and is now shorter.
  • Minor edits to section on foreigners/race, mostly reworded and rewrote a few sentences to clarify points.
  • Trimmed the beliefs and self-selection section slightly, it was long-winded.
  • Rewrote some paragraphs in the section on “The Most Beautiful Women” in Chapter 8. I have more experience with them now.
  • Changed the name of Chapter 9 to “How to Be Attractive” from “How to Be Handsome.”
  • Deleted color/complexion section in Chapter 9. Simplified and trimmed the fashion section in general.
  • Trimmed fitness section (no pun intended) in Chapter 9 as well.
  • Small revisions in the how to be fascinating section of Chapter 9 (tried to make it shorter).
  • Small touch ups all the way through chapter 10.
  • Added more emphasis on giving up porn in the section on sexual motivation in Chapter 10.
  • Added and edited some paragraphs in the beginning of Chapter 12 on intention and how it affects communication.
  • Cleaned up Chapter 12 in general, deleted some paragraphs in the creepiness section, was messy and redundant.
  • Touch ups throughout the Chapter 13; cut out some parts of the conversation section.
  • Deleted and rewrote parts of “the perfect date” section in Chapter 14.
  • Rewrote part of sex section putting more emphasis on consent and acknowledging a woman’s objections.
  • Replaced a lot of “guy” and “guys” with “man” and “men.” Replaced a lot of “girls” with “women.”

On top of that, I’m lowering the price down to $19.95. We’ll see how it affects sales, but I imagine this will be a permanent change. Since we’re reaching a more mainstream audience now, I would rather get as many men as possible reading my stuff than making a huge profit margin on it.

Will there be a updated kindle version for previous pdf buyers?

    • Mark Manson says:

Kindle and hard copy versions are currently being updated and should be up in the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to sell the Kindle version directly. So if you want an updated Kindle version, you’ll have to buy it again.

      • AAron says:

Hey Mark, absolutely LOVED the book, but I can’t help feeling a bit cheated here as a Kindle owner of your book. Especially since I only bought it a weeks ago, and can’t help but feel like I should’ve waited (not that I would’ve known).
Would it be possible for you to just send kindle owners the ebook file directly through email? Or perhaps even just send them the pdf version. I was very excited reading the post in anticipating the changes, and I would love to see them. Thanks!

      • justin says:

I’m confused. This link leads to amazon and a paperback. I was looking for the updated ebook for 20 bucks.

  2. Boss says:

Why did you remove the treasure hunt section? Thought it was a good analogy.

  3. jake says:

Do you have any idea when you’re going to introduce the attraction program thing?

  4. Fred says:

As a PDF purchaser, I’m waiting with bated breath. Have you sent them out yet?

  6. Traindom says:

I don’t mean to derail the topic here, but is that a picture of Kristin Kreuk? I used to have a crush on her from her Smallville days haha.

    • Mark Manson says:

I am consistently frightened by how accurately my readers can name the girls in my pictures… I don’t know who 90% of these women are, I just find them on Google Images.

      But yes, that’s her.

      • Traindom says:

Hahahaha. I have to see these other comments now. In retrospect, being able to tell who somebody is by the lower half of their face in unique lighting is pretty scary.

  7. Buddy says:

Mark, when you edited the book, did you change the sections on vulnerability? Like how much vulnerability was too much (if’ it’s not relevant, it’s too much).

    • Buddy says:

I think this is where a lot of the guys get confused, myself included. Sometimes we go overboard and just spill our guts and it’s a little too much sometimes. I remember reading a post you made on the site about this.

  8. David says:

It’d be cool too if you considered doing a monthly podcast or chat series. Paid or free, I’d be interested.

Eg you as the host with special guests discussing an area of self-development, with real world tips. Contributors can include those who’ve written some cool things here this past 4 or so months. Or other top bloggers…

  9. Schmechti says:

You are on fire this year. Good changes, Mark.

  10. Chris says:

If you can; post an update or twitter it when the revised hardcopy is available.

Much appreciated. About time for me to go through Models again. Very helpful for integrating my experiences.

  11. Mauricio says:

    I’m excited about this!

Could we also have an audiobook of the revised version?

Ideally, the audio would be done by the sexiest and most suave female voice you know, so that it keeps us coming back again and again to re-listen to it, getting more value, and to keep us engaged O:)

    • David says:

Gotta agree with Mauricio, engaging with us readers should be your utmost priority.

Preferably a woman with a lovely English accent (hire Kelly Brook) or a French actress (eg Laetitia Casta).

If you must choose an Aussie, choose Kylie or Danni Minoque, but not Julia Gilliard please.

Alternatively, recruiting David Cameron might bring in a new class of readers. I don’t suppose Post-Masculine has penetrated Eton yet…

      • Zac says:

David Attenborough or my money goes some place else!

        • Mauricio says:

Why do you, guys, wanna kill The Dream in its bud? ๐Ÿ˜›

Explanation: A lot of girls in this world have a soothing, deep/sonorous, almost seductive type of voice.

My suggestion is that, if possible and if Mark knows any of such girl, it would be great if she read Models revised for us, to get the audiobook version.

Just in case, I remind you, that making fun of other’s ideas leads to groupthink, and you know what such things caused, even when very smart people were involved. I’ll refer you to The Bay of Pigs Invasion.

          • Mark Manson says:

            Relax, they’re just joking around.

The audio version has not been updated. Honestly, it takes a long-fucking-time to record an audio book, so I may outsource it to someone…

  12. The Notorious PHD says:

I purchased the paperback through Amazon. Is there any way I can get the new .pdf version as well?

  13. Chris says:

Question about hard-copy version: Is the cover and print date going to get a change? Right now, on amazon, the only sign of any change is the title…

I really don’t want to drop $20 and have them send me the older copy which I already have.

  14. tOFUTOFU says:

Hey Mark, TofuTofu from seddit here. Is the new version of your book available in hard copy somewhere? I want to buy from Amazon but I’m not sure if it’s the updated version, I don’t really care for e-books. Can you share some details about that? Thanks!

    • Mark Manson says:

Yes, the version on amazon is updated.

      • TofuTofu says:

        Thanks, order placed!

      • tOFUTOFU says:

Hey Mark, got my copy in the mail today. I’m pretty sure something got fux0rd on the new print job… The font looks way too small with waaay too much white space – the top and bottom margins are over 2 inches long. Can you check on that? Seems like a screw-up at the printer.

    • Zac says:

TofuTofu I read your post the other day about guys using women to build their ego and how men should be chasing after emotional connection and I thought it was awesome. Would love to see you up in the PM forum if you aren’t already.

      • TofuTofu says:

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I don’t know if I have time for another forum outside of seddit, but I’ll check it out. I think Mark is one of the best.

  15. KAll Ross says:

    Dear Mark,

I wanted to get a revised copy because I bought the old one. However, it says on your site that my account has been deactivated. Has the system been down or is it just me?

  16. Citylights says:

Treasure Hunt was such a good section. Why did you remove it ?
