Research has shown that men's sexualities and preferences are more or less set in stone from adolescence through the rest of their lives. This is why you never hear of a gay man suddenly becoming straight (unless he gets brainwashed at some Christian "correctional" facility that is). Fetishes, dom/sub, preferences, etc. are all more or less cemented in place by the time a man hits adulthood.

Women on the other hand, research shows their sexualities to be far more malleable and that most women's preferences and sometimes even orientations will change and evolve over the course of their life. Women can be bisexual when they're young, have a few same-sex relationships, but then end up straight in their older years. Their fetishes and turn ons can change as well.

Why this is, no one really knows. But there is a ton of study on people who went to psychologists in order to get rid of their fetishes (one I read about was about a man who needed to be tied up and hung from a tree to have an orgasm). In women, with a lot of work they could do it. In men they never could. This is also probably why in America, the big stories about Christian teenagers coming out of the closet are always gay boys and almost never lesbians. Girls who grow up in that kind of environment are probably going to be a lot more successful at suppressing any homosexual tendencies they may have.
