I sit with my back against the wall, which makes the position a whole lot more comfortable.

A lot of people arn't used to the position in the beginning but you'll get used to it eventually. In fact, this is a great excercise in self-control. Can you overcome boredom? This is actually a great test.

Also there's a lot of scientific research suggesting that meditation increases your ability to concentrate and as a consequence improve your reading comprehension. I'm noticing this one a lot.
