SeXyBaCk Wrote:This thread made me smile quite a bit. Makes interesting reading, particularly the motivational parts. No way would or could i practically join in. But keep it up i guess... or down. Though I don't see a necessity for going 'cold turkey'. Limiting porn viewing and masturbation to say one a week/every 3 days feels more reasonable to me.

I don't miss porn very much, but I failed a couple of times already trying to not masturbate.
But so far I find that the increase of motivation I am feeling (I'm pretty sure by now it's a real effect, and not a coincidence) begins only at about five to seven days after the last time I orgasmed. So masturbating every three days, or even once a week, would take a lot of that effect away.

My sexual Energy is back. No Musturbartion and no Porn seems really good. Iam now at the second week

The No-More-Porn Thread - luda - 01-15-2012 09:40 PM

So I'm on a week ryt now. Was expecting to have a huge increase on my sex drive but its kind of dropped and I sometimes go a day without an erection but its all good. So today I decided to masturbate for the first time in like 3days. It was kind of hard to do without porn. It was even harder trying to do it without fantasising. It was almost though my dick wasn't in it

Anyway keep strong comrades!!!!

Caved in at 17 days Sad

The No-More-Porn Thread - Heisenberg - 01-16-2012 10:01 PM

Ha still going...
Had a crazy vivid wet dream like a week ago. Think my balls reached maximum capacity lol.

Girl next to me in one of my classes was like rubbing my leg with hers and I got hard almost instantly...

Not sure if she saw but, if so, it's all good. Wink

It's like... not smoking cigarettes. I just don't do it, and I really don't miss it. Although, unlike smoking cigarettes, you have this new storehouse of energy that you can channel in whatever direction you choose.

I definitely feel more "don't give a fuck" in my attitude. Especially regarding people with no authority over me or people I don't respect, why should I care about their opinion of me, or anything really? I care about my opinion about myself. Paradoxically, I care more than ever about getting my life in order, keeping grades up in school, working hard, being a good person, etc.

I say everyone should at least try going free of porn/masturbation, if you fail on day 17 or whatever... try again. Get to 30 days and see how you feel. If nothing else, it's a good exercise in willpower and discipline.

The No-More-Porn Thread - Alvar - 01-16-2012 10:28 PM

There's only like one more week to go? Still no porn.

This weekend I ended my dry-spell. With the first I had good sex, with the second I had, at first, trouble getting an erection. Didn't come with either.
Lately I have been kind of passive when it comes to hitting on girls. Something funny happened: on both nights I hit on a girl on the dance floor and their friends were pushing her towards me, while she'd give up on me after a while. It's like they all knew I was "nice" and non-aggressive Sad While this probably relates to other issues in my life, it goes to show that being away from porn does not solve all problems.

The No-More-Porn Thread - Zelazny - 01-18-2012 02:19 AM

So far, I've given in to masturbation, guess I really wanted to relax. Felt a lot better than usual though. I haven't used porn in a while and have been noticing that I've been falling out of the habit of using it. As far as masturbation goes, I found out that it is my stress outlet, next to eating. this gets hard as I'm not buying snacks to stay at a healthy weight. Have been noticing stronger (or at least more attention-grabbing, lol) erections in the morning.

My mood has been swinging somewhat. Couldn't get out of bed one day, spent the other day jumping around grinning like a lovesick puppy in spring without actually having a girl on my mind. Could be the irregular sleeping pattern and painkillers for tootache though. We'll see.

Just wanted to call in, somehow, posting on this thread makes it easier to forego mpo by placing the issue outside myself and sharing it with you guys.

In regard to erectile dysfunction ... you have to differ from physical causes and mental. Clearly the connection between pornography consumption and not getting it up with a real girl in the flesh would be a mental blockade of sort. I doubt there's been any kind of research, definitely not medical, possibly psychological, I can try searching the databases for it. If it's a head thing clearly the more you worry about and ponder on it the worse it'll become. Without speaking with any kind of authority, relaxation feels like the plausible key here.

However if you suffer from high/low bloodpressure, bloodsugar, heart disease, thyroid conditions any of those and many more can cause erectile dysfunction and you should consult a specialist.

Wow 17 days is... I'm sure I haven't gone 7 days without since the age of probably 10. Even being holed up with various prospective in laws on vacation and stuff. I'm really getting curious about this since I feel a lack of ambition for pretty much any activity bar sex during winter months. If I could practically partake i would. Knowing myself though I get incredibly pissy and frustrated when not being sexually active. I pick fights and act like a total bitch.

Coming away from hardcore porn though can only be a good thing. It's not real, and it's not life. Of course that doesn't make treating yourself to some really sleazy porn every now and then wrong. As for self motivation, I've found yelling and cussing at myself to be effective for me. And snacks... don't buy them. Eventually you'll come back, treat yourself to one and they'll be okay, but just way too sweet.

Hello guys,
Well, I'm from Germany so my English ist not as good as yours. My Question is: could you train your discipline in this case ? Because my record was 5 days without jerking off. After this it was even harder to keep up again ( 5 days in a row got harder ). So I thougt I began with only 1day not jerking off and doing this one week than 2 days not jerking off etc.
Normally this step-by-step method should work for all areas in life. But only in this case i always fail.
Does anyone have any ideas why it is that hard for me?

I disagree with the use of pornography and ED being a mental blockade. Check out http://www.yourbrainonporn.com

Porn is very very stimulating, sadly it can be far more stimulating then "real life women". So when you do encounter a real women, you're dopamine system is numbed due to porn. You are no longer wired to real life stimuli. And there you go, ED.

There are off course many other reasons, as you pointed out.

Hey Animal

Thanks for joining us!

I would highly advise you to check out one of my first posts in this thread. It contains information about why this maybe an issue to you, and what the underlying science is concerning "porn use".

You can definetly train your discipline in this. I've already done a reboot, but now I'm also skipping the MO. I'm now at day 17 of no PMO and it's my goal to go the entire month of januari without.

Can you give use some more information about your situation?
f.e. Do you still watch porn? Did you try to masturbate without porn? Have you experienced withdrawal symptomps (see my first post)? Do you experience apathy around women or do you have trouble getting an erection?

This is all very important information for you so that you can have more knowledge about your current situation.

But if you are really having an issue with this, I would highly advice you to become a member of http://www.reuniting.com/forum.

The No-More-Porn Thread - Halo Effect - 01-20-2012 08:27 AM

TheAnimal,

You can definitely train your discipline. To increase the likelihood of success, make a rule that you can't touch your penis at all, except to pee. Similarly, make a rule that you can't watch any pictures or movies that are visually stimulating, even if it's just hot women and not porn. I find that this makes it easier for me.

Other than that, you have to really want it.

Do you smoke? Imagine trying to apply this kind of logic to your bad habits:

"Hey guys, I want to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. I started yesterday, but after 3, it tasted so bad that I had to quit. Today I took two and I'm already feeling so sick of it that I can't imagine putting another to my mouth for a long time. Why couldn't I smoke at least 10 cigarettes? I feel that I always fail. What can I do to be a great smoker?

That's just a funny example, but this shows also how we can get into positive habits. Accept that you'll go back, praise yourself for your efforts and achievements, no matter how small. Have a look at this post from CJ.

Interesting link Crazyhorse, thanks, I'm browsing it now. I wasn't aware this was a widespread problem.

I was wrong saying it wasn't a physical problem, clearly there are measurable physical effects of porn addiction. What I was trying to say was that it's not something a pill or surgery can fix (unlike with other forms of ED). You have to untrain your brain to overcome this one.

I'm looking for the criterias of porn addiction now. Since you're rebooting yourself and doing the steps did you consider yourself to be addicted to porn?

I don't think my porn consumption is excessive, but while I'm searching for the definition I'm wondering. Am I correct in assuming you'd have to watch a lot of pornography for considerable time until your body starts to not react how it should to women/the sex you're attracted to? I've not noticed any negative effects of porn on my love life... at least that I've noticed, apart from the obvious idea-input that is porn.

I'm on day 3 now, going to do this as long as my girlfriend is away, I even announced it while declining to talk dirty on the phone. Hands off the dick. Really curious if it affects my motivation in any way, naturally I am doubtful. I don't have real motivational issues, I still get up for work every day at 6 am and get all the stuff done I plan on doing, but I find myself frequently fantasizing about just being able to do nothing, spend the day in bed and not having to show up. I feel there's room for attitude improvement.

The No-More-Porn Thread - Kunio - 01-20-2012 01:43 PM

I'm glad it's a no porn challenge and not a no masturbation challenge, because I've already won! I don't watch much porn at all. I'm not into the visual. I'm into the physical and emotional aspect. A side note, though: when I had surgery down there, I couldn't masturbate for like a month. And when I did, that was a pretty powerful orgasm. Was it worth the wait, though? I'm leaning towards no. I find that I can get anxious and desperate for sex if I refrain from masturbation, and that makes it tough to get. I think that Mark is right that you shouldn't go overboard with jerking it, though. 1-2 times a week sounds pretty good for keeping your hormones in check and keeping your prostate healthy.

Frankly, I wasn't aware that it had such a strong impact on me. I taught it was just something innocent, just like when you're young and you bought your first playboy magazine (ah the good old days Tongue).

I remember that I was always a normal guy, but there was a period in my life when my social life wasn't that great. It was then that I started watching porn on a far more regular basis. Unfortunatley, it wasn't until I stopped using porn, that I noticed some strong withdrawal symtomps.

These included:
- insomnia: sometimes this meant an average of 4 hours of sleep over two days.
- semen leakage: excessive sperm that my body tried to get rid off through the urine channel.
- flatllining: this is a period where you have no libido at all. Although now it is changing because I'm getting back my morning wood. This was something that wasn't there when i consumed porn.

I started noticing that there was something wrong with me, when i started having more sexual anxiety and when I had apathy to real life women. Particurarily this last one. The problem is that you're just unaware, that porn can change your perception of an attractive female. With smoking at least you know that you're doing something that is unhealthy.

I definetly wasn't your stereotypical porn "addict", but I just had apathy. All the women and all the men were wondering as to why I was still single. This included me as well Smile.

Freel free to check out some of my posts in this thread, you'll find some interesting links.

Okay thank you guys.
@Halo Effect : But isn't it much harder to stay disciplined, if I'm giving me even less freedom? Do you also do it like this? If yes, how much time does it need till you really see almost any girl as ´hot´ ? Because acutally this is my aim. In my case ( not ejaculating but masturbating) I needed 5-6 days.
As I can see, some of you just want to quit the porn-dependence and some also forbear masturbation. What are differences in your ( I hope positive) results?

The No-More-Porn Thread - Zelazny - 01-22-2012 05:30 PM

Funny, I'm starting to notice how good all the girls around me smell, and how much I want to touch them. This seems to be working

I also do no masturbation.

I've done it both with very strict rules and with less strict rules. The thing is that once you do stuff like jerking off to pictures of hot clothed women, it's a very slippery slope and it's very easy to convince yourself to have an orgasm or go to more explicit material. If you can't do anything there is no slipperly slope. And you're only going for like a week. That's not too long.

I do not see almost any girl as hot. I do appreciate the beauty of many more girls and am horny much more often and crave much more for sex.

Somehow I have other effects than in my earlier times when I tried to keep abstinance. I used to get really horn between 4-6 days , actually day 5 and 6 were extremely hard and exceptionally high libido.
But now, when I tried to forbid masturbation almost totally my libido goes to zero. I even don't have any sexual thoughts. I'm just surprised and kind of frightened why I'm getting horny much much harder.
Do you think this abstinence has a sense of use if my libido decrease after the first day I began?

If so then you are probably experiencing a flatline.

haha I've set the bar at 21 days of no PMO (porn masturbation, orgasm). The 22th day I masturbated without porn.

Next will probably one orgasm a month or longer.

good luck !

Failed miserably after 3 days (phone sex or rather masturbation). On Friday I did notice quite a few cute nurses I hadn't previously seen, but could be coincidence. On saturday morning i was visiting my nan in a different hospital and her nurse was eyefucking me bigtime. Or so I thought, could all be in my head. Going to try going for a week. No self control here. Shambolic.

57 days? I wish I could - but I really don't believe you mate.
