Raw Denim Questions - Matty - 01-29-2012 11:20 AM First off, a huge shout out to Gill for all his fashion advice on this board. I've been following a lot of his guidelines, along with Marks advice to simplify my wardrobe, and it's really done wonders for my look. So big props, and i'm looking forward to the upcoming fashion guide. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting some Raw Denim jeans. My one concern is staining from the indigo. Does anyone here know how much staining I can realistically expect, and should I be avoiding wearing white shirts and the like? Does the staining stop at a certain point in the lifespan of the jeans? Also with regard to sizing, how much do they losen up, and should I buy one size down? Raw Denim Questions - Todd1 - 01-30-2012 03:04 AM Yea I'm just getting into raw denim. Found a pair of Levi's selvage raw denim I'm going to try out but the company only offers a limited selection. Brands like APC or Naked and Famous offer a larger selection but are more expensive. The most important thing with raw denim jeans is how you take care of them. Raw denim has not been processed so if you wash them the color will fade very quickly. Instead it is recommended to wear them up to a year without washing and if they must be washed do so in a bath tub with gentle detergent. If they begin to smell after extended use (not usual) then put them in a garbage bag and freeze them overnight. Eventually they will begin to fit your body and create a custom fade. http://www.rawrdenim.com/2011/12/fade-friday-top-5-fades-of-2011/ http://www.denimblog.com/c/t/148896/raw-denim-information |
