The one you feed - Zac - 05-22-2012 06:14 AM An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed." RE: The one you feed - baller08 - 05-24-2012 12:03 AM Thanks for sharing that, Zac! I've never heard that one before, it's good. RE: The one you feed - Zac - 05-24-2012 12:46 AM NP man. It's such a simple way to explain how you can interact with life. I really enjoyed it. Thanks =) RE: The one you feed - Nick - 05-24-2012 01:32 PM Hate me for saying this, but that was super corny to read. Also, a well rounded person should have a bit of "evil" in them for good measure. RE: The one you feed - Zac - 05-24-2012 01:46 PM I think the story says that you do have a bit of evil in you always. One side of you just prevails more. Also, I can be a super corny guy so I don't hold it against you for calling it like you see it. I agree that no emotion is considered "bad" emotion, it exists for a purpose and reason. But that wasn't the point of the parable. It was an encouragement to think about which set of emotions will guide your life and life decisions. The emotions listed first have a place in life, people who strive to eliminate it will not have a balanced existence. However, if we work towards letting the second set of emotions guide us, then we gain the wisdom to know when to use the first set appropriately. RE: The one you feed - Zac - 05-24-2012 04:50 PM Just because one wolf wins doesn't mean the other wolf doesn't get it's bites in life. RE: The one you feed - Traindom - 05-24-2012 10:47 PM I loved it because I have a fascination with Native Americans. Their culture allures me so :0.
