I have mixed feelings concerning these. To me it sounded just like a swingers event. Nothing spectacular though. Swinger parties have been around for so many ages. I remember Louis Theroux doing an undercover in the swingers environment. Personally, I can't really imagine a lot of attractive people going to such places.
To me it sounds a bit like the porn industry. On the outside, we cherish images of glamour and wild sex parties. But what really goes on is totally different. Particurarily, if you listen to stories from former pornstars.

I wasn't really surprised with the feminist point of view at the end. But do we seriously still behave that way towards women? I don't think so. In all honesty, such parties are different from mainstream society. That's the reason why they get critiqued. Men will get critiqued just as much if they admit going to such a party.
But when women get critiqued it's because we arn't liberal enough.

Link doesn't work for me, but I guess this must be something like killing kittens parties? Someone I studied with goes to those. They're invitation only as far as I know. They were the latest hush hush thing a few months ago in london. Guys jokingly saying how desperate they were to get in. That sorta thing probably popping up all over western europe now.

I'm not a huge fan of the book, but Ariel Levy demolishes this type of "sexual expressionism" in "Female Chauvinist Pigs."
I find stuff like this to be shallow and basically a gender-studied excuse for hedonism and attention-whoring. If a bunch of women want to get off together, that's cool, but don't advertise it and put a cause behind it.
