Travelling alone
Hi, in reaction to the last post on the website:

I was planning to get out of the country for the week after the exams (first week of februari) to meet new people, clear my mind, make fun, do some photography. And I was planning to do so alone, without friends, to completely snap out of everything.
Is this a good idea? That is, going alone to some country you don't know.
What country would you suggest? My choices are limited to western-central europe (Italy, Spain, France, Germany, England, Netherlands, Österreich, Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland...).
First I preferred Czech, since I know Russian and understand half of what they're saying. And I've heard Prague is nice. England (London), France and Netherlands seem like safe choices, since I speak all the languages.
What are your experiences? How should I approach this? How do you get in contact with other travellers and locals? Where is this easier? How do you make contact with locals over the internet? And where is there less chance of getting ripped off or something? I want to feel safe taking my pretty expensive DSLR with me. But I guess you won't have guarantees with that in any major city in any country. And again, is it a good idea to travel completely alone?

Sincerely yours

Travelling alone
How old are you? If it's your first time traveling alone, I recommend staying in hostels (get a PRIVATE ROOM though), and setting up a couchsurfing profile and emailing some people to hang out before you get there.

Pretty much everywhere in Europe is very safe for travelers.

+1

Traveling on your own will force you to open up a lot and develop your character immensely. Depending on where you travel, it will sometimes be rough or you will spend some evenings alone, but in the end you will have a great journey.
