RE: To the "no porn" guys
Not that it seems it matters, but I voted stronger, but I meant to put very stronger.

I got hornier than a bitch after 3 weeks of it. It has a delayed effect after your body gets adapted to the fact that you're no longer getting "sex" from on-screen women.
Oh, and Mark, question. I'm not asking this to insult anyone, but as a coach, or just a person who teaches people how to better their dating life, how do you deal with people who just can't listen or are so hard-headed that they won't see a different point of view from their own? Yet keep asking you for help?

This is one of the few reasons I could never be a teacher. I'm impatient. I would've just walked away.

Did you read the first few posts on the no porn thread? In particular what Crazyhorse said about the reboot? Answers are all in the other thread.

It could be a Placebo Effect.

In this study you can see, that masturbation can increase your sexual desire

This thread is about porn, not masturbation. I dont think anyones saying dont mastubate. Just keep it to a couple times a week tops, and dont attack it with vice grip hands. And keep it porn free!

RE: To the "no porn" guys
My experience is that without porn and masturbating more infrequently, I am more attracted to women in general. As in, just because there is a woman in my presence I will become a bit more aroused/attracted no matter who it is(barring she is not old, family, obese, extremely ugly/unkempt, etc...). Its as if there is a switch in my body that flips and I have this physical reaction where my body goes GIRL, GIRL! This didn't really happen before.

It really can desensitize you. It would take a lot more for me to become aroused pre porn-stoppage. Now a can just look at a hot girl in a sexy pose and become pretty aroused, or see a girl at the bar showing a bit of skin. Don't even get me started on those tight dresses and heels.

Not all men are like this though. I have a few friends who I know watch a lot of porn and masturbate very frequently who don't seem to be at all desensitized. I feel like their libidos are just off the charts.

I do not know whetever porn has a negative effect of your sexual desire. Because I never watched a lof of it.

I can only say, that no masturbation, has a negative effect on your sexual desire. Because what you do not use, you lose. Therefore 2-3 masturbations per week is good for your game performence.

Could you elaborate a bit on why you think this is so? By the way, this also sounds like a topic I'd like to read a blog post about.

Is it because cold approaches create a non-girlfriend dynamic from the start or because you are unlikely to meet someone with shared interests from a “random” cold approach?

I second this. An elaboration would be nice.

I find plain/average girls much more attractive both in personality value and physical features, while i am slightly more critical of "hot" girls

Sadly, I can not view the study.

Did they test groups the same way we do here - with a stop in masturbation and measurements of reported sexual desire?

Of course there is a positive correlation between masturbation frequency and sexual desire - you have to ask though, in which direction.

If you test for testosterone levels, masturbation frequency and sexual desire you will see that all these are correlated. But its likely that high testosterone levels will increase sexual desire and sexual desire will increase masturbation frequency. And testosterone levels especially will be dependent on the time of measurement - to my knowledge it increases after masturbation/sex but then drops. Its not like this is static.

This alone doesnt state anything about causes - somebody might have a naturally higher sexual desire (caused by greater baseline testosterone levels) and therefore be more likely to "let off steam" by masturbating.

You will have to test the same person, consciously omitting masturbation and then measure sexual desire relative to the time when masturbating to see the effect we are discussing here.

My subjective personal experience is that not masturbating will increase my sexual desire and will make me perceive women as more attractive. I dont know any study that tests this, though.

RE: To the "no porn" guys
When I avoid PMO, I'm more aware of woman's value as a person. I appreciate her inner qualities and not just her physical appearance. I'm more social, alert, motivated, and caring. Without PMO, I wouldn't say that I feel more or less attracted to women but rather that I'm beyond being just attracted to women as objects.

“There is no dignity when the human dimension is eliminated from the person. In short, the problem with pornography is not that it shows too much of the person, but that it shows far too little.”
