RE: The Official Lifestyle Goals 2012 Thread
I have a few goals to complete before the end of the year.

1. Take the Mandria program. This is a program based on uncovering the deep beliefs behind negative emotion patterns that both Mark and Zac have taken. They recommend it, so I'm going to go through it and see what it does for me. I'll start this a few days after I get home probably and I'm settled back in, not jetlagged, etc.

2. Figure out if I am going to study in 2013 (and which exact university, program, etc that would be) or create a career plan outside of university. Figuring out what I really want to do is going to be an ongoing process obviously, one that I guess I've been going through for years already, but I think there's some concrete steps towards realizing it that I haven't taken the last few years. I'm going to make sure that next year, whether or not it ends up working out, I take those steps.

3. Get a job. Unless my plans for 2013 specifically require me not to (I do summer school papers or something), I'm going to need a job when I get back home. If I'm going to university next year then I'll want some work to do until then, especially as I'll want to save up a bit to help pay for it. If I'm not going to university, I want to find the best combination of something I enjoy, that pays relatively well, and that does the most to help me take the aforementioned concrete steps. This might be directly related to the work I do, or it might be something like flexible hours, good networking contacts, or the possibility of becoming location independent.

RE: The Official Lifestyle Goals 2012 Thread
Ok, I'm going to join in. I'm going to keep this to 4 goals to keep it from getting nuts. I'm going to officially start this on Monday.

1. Approaching Women: I was in the Approach Women program, slacked off a bit, and then dropped out of it when it started getting really hard (Direct Approach). I want to finish this program. I'm working through the exercises again (the ones before the direct approach), and I want to work on getting very comfortable with those and Direct Approaching before I lay down money for another month. I would like to have this completed in three months from now (February 5th, 2013). When I was doing the program, I was getting better at approaching, but I wasn't being entirely honest with myself about how comfortable the approaches were for me, especially the Compliments exercise (although I got through all ten approaches in it), so when I tried to go to Direct Approaching, I could never get myself to go up to a girl and say that she's cute and that I would like to talk to her. I would like to finish this program and the beginning goals I set out from it, which were:
1) Get at least 5 phone numbers from cold approaching
2) Get at least 5 women to agree to go on a date with me after cold approaching them
3) Make physical contact with at least 5 women that I cold approach

2. Gym/weight: I have lost about 30 pounds (was ~205lb last summer and am around ~175lb now) and am going to the gym on a somewhat regular basis (lifting weights and Capoeira). I'm also eating a lot better than I used to, although I'm not following a particular diet right now. I would like to have 10 more pounds lost in three months from now (February 5th, 2013) to achieve a weight of 165lb. That's not too hard of a goal, I know, but I want to achieve that before moving on to other fitness goals.

3. Guitar: I used to be really good at playing guitar, but I mostly stopped playing when I went to grad school a few years ago. I've since been picking off the rust, but I would like to get myself to better than where I was before grad school. I want to both play guitar for 1 hour a day and master a few songs. The songs are:
"The Sentinel" by Judas Priest
"Legacy" by Phil Keaggy
"Oblivion" by Mastodon
"Three Days" by Jane's Addiction
"Ride the Lighting" by Metallica
I had half-assedly learned most of these before, but I never got them to the point of mastery. I would like to have these mastered in 6 months from now (both be able to play perfectly and play completely from memory) (May 5th, 2013).

4. Porn: I want to abstain from porn for 60 days, and keep fapping down to 1x a week. I think if I can work on this, it will help with approaching women as well. So I want to go from the start date to Jan 2nd, 2013 without looking at porn at all, or masturbating to any pictures whatsoever (even on facebook).

_____________________________________________________________

I have some other goals (read X number of books, meditate, etc.), but I figure all these together will be pretty challenging.

Is it this one? http://www.mandriahealing.com/TheMandriaProgram.htm

Really interesting, you can get it for free if you do it within one month, otherwise you'll pay. If that is actually useful the program will get great reviews from users that finish it. Others will only have themselves to blame for not completing, and paying 250$...
I wish a certain blogger, tsss tssss, would take on this idea Wink

I'm good friends with the guy who made the Mandria program. We have tentative plans to create a product/seminar together using it next year for PM.

The Mandria program itself is excellent. One of the best courses/products I've ever done.

Am I blind? I can't find the Mandria signup page. I can only get to a page asking me to login with my nonexistent username and password. I'm interested in doing it though.

Hey guys, this is Mark, co-creator of the Mandria Program. Sorry about the bad link - that's an old page that I failed to update when we moved the Mandria Program over to our latest software and website.

You can find it here now: http://mandria-healing.peoplecourses.net...course/719

And yes, the offer that you get it free if you complete it within one month still stands.

I just did this program and it was pretty great. I'd be interested to see what everyone else has to say about it.

RE: The Official Lifestyle Goals 2012 Thread
Hey guys, 2012 is nearly over and I can't sleep, so I wrote down what I learned in this year regarding goals and sum up my successes and failures.

First of all. It feels like every year goes by quicker than the last and even though I give my best to create new experiences and to continue growing, time runs faster and faster. Events, trying something new, creating special moments do not change this. This feels scary. It feels like I've got to protocol each and every day, that I have to keep journals and take pictures more often, so these days do not feel lost.

And I'm scared that this will continue in the future and become even worse when I've got a normal job. Now as a student, I still got plenty of free time, which I want to use in the best possible way.

So tracking my activities during the day and getting rid of the time-consuming, unnecessary stuff will be something, I'll do before new year. 2013, I'll have an eye on it. It's good that I became concious of this issue again.

So insight nr.1: Value your time and make each and every day worthwhile

Insight nr. 2: Choose your goals more carefully.

This year I focused (not just) on the mentioned lifestyle goals. During the year I recognized that some of these goals were not that important to me, I lacked motivation pursuing them (e.g the presentation workgroup goal), so after a few months I ditched them for good. The consequence will be my goals will be chosen more carefully.

So change goals. It's not a bad thing nor are you cheating. Time goes by, the seasons change and you and your desires might as well.

Insight nr.2b [Don't pursue goals any further, if you're not excited about them anymore. Change them.

Mark wrote somewhen during the year that ten goals are far too many and that you get sidetracked by other stuff, so it's hard to focus on all of them. So he recommended to choose fewer goals. After 2012, I just can nod my head and say: "Yup. You're right there. It's really hard to have that many goals.

Insight nr.3 [Fewer goals

It takes a lot of energy and focus to pursue this many goals. The more goals you have, the better you should focus and take action or you'll be in trouble and disappointed at the end of the year.

Insight nr.4 Guarantee that you stay focused

To stay focused, you have to remind yourself of your goals constantly, like for example two times a day, or you'll get sidetracked by your daily problems or the media. Last year I checked my goals more frequently and I got better results. I bought a whiteboard for my apartment to remind myself of my goals and even printed them out on paper. But somewhen I cleaned the whiteboard and put the paper away and I got distracted.,

This resulted in two failed goals this year, which were easy to accomplish. Kind of annoying, huh?

So my advice for guys who are struggling with the same issue: Create a morning ritual to become more present, print out your goals and hang them where you can see them, read them every morning and get rid off your television.

Part 2 of my evaluation will come soon. It will be about my personal accomplishments and failures.

Thanks for reading. I'm really tired now, so good night Smile
