It's kind of crazy that they changed a thing on that woman's face. We are weird animals.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
Four days without looking at any porn still early days. I am spending more time out the house. Either at work, gym, MMA or approaching girls. By the time I get back its late and I am tired all I can do is eat and sleep.

Day 18, no porn - don't feel the need or habit to watch it anymore really.

Masturbated today thinking of an ex girlfriend today though. Libido comes and goes but is generally on the high side...

Day 15 for me. No particularly strong urges to watch. I'm now going to limit masturbation as well to once a week since the no-porn isn't gearing-up to be too difficult.

First post on the new forum! You can count me in on no masturbation & porn for the next 60 days starting from tomorrow (I don't even remember if I masturbated today, that's how automatic it is). I tried tried going on a pron/masturbation diet after reading Mark's blog post 2 weeks ago but I only lasted a week so I hope I last all 60 days. 16/06/12 is D-day.

Well its been a week now and have not once looked at any porn.

I had a raging boner this morning and was so tempted to masturbate over some pics on the internet but managed to exercise self control.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
Happy to see everyone's progress, and agreed that Jenna J is hot in that picture. Caught myself staring for a solid 10 seconds.

Today is day 21 for me. It hasn't been too hard the last week since I wasn't on the computer a ton and had a lot of company.

I know a lot of us decide on this porn diet because we are more aware of the negative effects it has on our lives, pragmatically. However, it's been interesting for me to use my relationship with porn as a window to think about my sexuality and sexual shame in general. For example, why am I into the types of porn (and maybe types of women) I'm into? What are the triggers that lead me to want porn, and what do those triggers say about where I am in self-awareness (for me, they are anxiety and loneliness)?

The relationship between shame and porn has been talked about a lot in the books that are recommended around here (No More Mr. Nice Guy, Way of the Superior Man, etc). In addition to the practical benefits by simply refraining from PMO, I think a lot of us would benefit from also addressing the emotions behind the action.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
I'm now a week without porn. Have jerked off twice (Day 2 and Day 4) just concentrating on the feeling, trying not to fantasize and that was pretty successful.
The hardest part is not imagining yourself having sex with girls you see, which is
basically watching porn in your head.

All in all, I feel pretty great and energized, but I mainly link this
to me finally going to the gym again today; and also to running.
I never was a runner or even good at running a distance, but started two
weeks ago just to clear my head. I'm approaching the 5km mark, even though
I'm going to pretty much limit it now so I can do heavier squats...
So until summer:

Let's cut the fat, let's cut the porn, let's feel good and comfortable in our skins Smile
Go!

No Days Off
Never settling for less than the seemingly impossible.

Thumbs Up RE: The No-More-Porn Thread

Ok, seems fair enough. Even though I don't watch porn that regularly (once a day), I've been having trouble doing my regular day without a lack of energy and motivation. I'll give it a try, because it seems that many have shown improvement. Big Grin

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
What are you guys' opinions on fantasizing? I recently found this quote on yourbrainonporn.com and liked the spin it put on libido:
Quote:I figured it out, fellas. Last night, I was sitting around post-workout relaxing, busy not fapping (you know how that goes) and of course I was thinking about sex. Then it hit me: I really enjoy thinking about beautiful women. I mean it makes me HAPPY. Being horny was enjoyable and life-affirming last night because for the first time in my life I didn't see it as a problem that needed to be fixed. I realized that it's my natural state as a man and it's essential to being a true man.
Think about it: if you're caught in the daily PMO cycle, you see your sex drive as a problem in constant need of fixing. We're in a sense afraid of being horny because whenever we start feeling that longing we immediately start yanking ourselves until it goes away. WHY? Last night I found out that if you don't rush to put that fire out, it turns out that that fire is the very fire that should be constantly burning in all men, pushing us forth into the world to conquer and win. Bask in the warmth. You need it to succeed. We're truly blessed to be male, healthy, and alive.

It's like validation in a way. People try to deny their desire to want it when they should just encourage it in healthier ways. Maybe we should see libido as something more than a nuisance?

I just read this not 5 minutes ago. I agree with everything except the we are truly blessed part. It makes as if woman are cursed even though it wasn't intended that way.

Yeah, I concur. I think he was just so enlightened with his place in the world and his want to share it with others like himself that he didn't scrutinize his words. It's happened to me before.

Well, Day 1 starts today. Wish me luck. I'm adding showering every day (something you forget if you're recently unemployed and never leave the house) and no TF2 to my 60 day list.

Edit: I'll add sugary sweets to the list. I know this thread is for PMO only but I have some bad habits to kick!

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
I haven't actually counted how long I have been without porn, but I guess the last time was in late February.
On one or two occasions I missed it, but that was all.

I haven't entirely cut out masturbation, but I'm not doing it more than once or twice a week. I have no real urge to, at the moment.
Maybe because I'm burning of so much energy exercising 6-7 times a week, lately.

Feels kind of strange, though, as if I were asexual.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
Day 38 right now. I actually almost relapsed the other night. I wanted to test myself to see how much porn still affected me so I opened a video. After about ten seconds (and before anything really happened in the video) I felt my dick move and then immediately shut it off. It was not a smart idea in retrospect and I'll make sure not to do it again. No masturbation, not even an erection, but it was enough to prevent me from pulling that stunt in the future.

Also had a weird dream a few nights ago where I did relapse and convinced myself it was okay. The dream felt very real, which was strange considering I normally don't remember my dreams at all. If anything, it was just a further motivator to continue with no-porn.

Anyways, still quitting fantasy, so looks like I'm going through another flat-line while my body goes through withdrawal of that. Natural libido will be worth it in the end though, so I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
What value do you guys think you're getting by not masturbating?

I'm off porn, and have been for over a week now. That's clearly a good idea, considering the negative effect it had on my last relationship. (Not getting it up with a sex-loving 24 year old? Clearly a problem.)

But weekly masturbation seems like a *good* idea to me for a lot reasons. It's not just about touching yourself, it's a way to get *in touch* with yourself. It's a lifestyle check-in, and the last thing I need in my life are more negative associations with sexual fulfillment.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
It's not because masturbation is bad. I have noticed an increase in energy and attraction to women if I do no masturbation as well as no porn. After I orgasm, I notice a decrease in energy. I think that's normal, but if you do it all the time, you have this lower energy all the time.

Yourbrainonporn.com is a great resource. I had read stuff a while ago that said porn probably affects men's sexual health in negative ways, but that website was the first place I found that describes the science behind it convincingly.

I may do a blog post on this.

That's a great resource.

Another website that will make you not want to watch porn ever again is:

http://www.shelleylubben.com/pornstars

Read some of the stories of pornstars, and watch some of their videos about how the industry works, and porn will start to turn you off.

Next time you jerk off, this about the fact that this is what you are jerking off to:

http://www.shelleylubben.com/former-porn...jane-story

This site is obviously extremely biased, and for the most part I do agree with it. Porn sucks the life out of you, ruins you socially and emotionally, and makes it harder to get women.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
One thing that scared me a lot was trying to masturbate without porn or fantasy and finding out that I simply could not enjoy it. Where I'd climax easily and fast (masturbation with porn is more of a "quick fix" these days, I used to be able to go hours on it, slowly building to a climax, but decided that actually getting things done was more important at some point)

I could lie and masturbate all I want, but the thrill just wasn't in it anymore. Sure, it was pleasant, but for some reason, I felt I was on a timetable towards an orgasm that would just not come. I *try* to just enjoy the feeling and literally getting back in touch with myself, but it's just no longer the release that it used to be.

Which makes me wonder what it did mean to me. The pure physical sensation wasn't it, because that alone doesn't get me going by a long shot. Was it just an addiction to a thrill, or a thought? Maybe even the validation I was looking for through love and sex with my last partners and (unsurprisingly) failed relationships. This really scares me, the ease at which I basically sank into addiction. And thought I post in this thread, there count varies, because I'm not there by a long shot.
Still getting better, less masturbation, meaning less orgasms and definately less porn. But there are days where I am bored, behind a computer, alone or in stress where I succumb and masturbate several times to get a high that doesn't really come anymore.

Day 25 now - had a few close shaves with relapsing. Pretty easy to surf the web, click on a few links here and there, and voila! back to NSFW pics which just makes me want to fall into pure porn.

One thing I've realized is how much energy and time feeding that habit was taking out from me. Instead of fantasizing about pornstars I find myself thinking about career goals, what I want to do with my life, more positive stuff now.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
I'll throw down a story or two. It's been about two weeks now since I've given up Porn, and I'm in my second week of only masturbating weekly.

I was in shivasana at the end of Yoga yesterday, just letting my mind go, and suddenly I realized that I was fantasizing about pornography. Basically I was replying an old porn video in my mind.
There was a moment in there where I actually was trying to justify the fantasy to myself. "This is okay, because you're exploring sexual alternatives through these thoughts."
Once I realized what I was doing I cleared my mind and moved on, but it was pretty shocking, especially considering the context.

Later last night I was out at a show with my ex (we're exploring our post bf/gf relationship), and our dancing turned into a little grinding. When we did this previously my physical reactions had been a bit lacking. It was exciting, but I was getting fully turned on.

This time I felt like I was fifteen years old again, and she felt it too. In fact she even commented on it...

It was as deep and as strong a sexual reaction I can remember getting for a very very long time.

RE: The No-More-Porn Thread
hey guys, it´s now 2 months I stopped watching porn. I won´t start with it ever again because of these positive effects that I don´t want to miss:

- saving time: 3 times a week I used to watch and masturbate for 1,5-2 hours
- more energy: I sleep more and better, increased focus on more important things in life
- harder erections
- sex is more satisfying

I only masturbate once a week to pictures (non-nudity) like in old teenager days to release some pressure.

BTW: I don´t know if this was posted before, but if not, it´s worth looking at it for motivation purposes:
