Suggestion for conversation program.
Make the videos scrollable instead of only pause and play. It can be bad for people who want to hear things twice and having to watch it again later.

And the button in the beginning where it says click here to start lesson one. it keeps making me log in then takes me to a dead end screen. I had to click the lesson one in the side bar to actually open up.

RE: Suggestion for conversation program.
The second one's a bug and is fixed.

The first one I'll look into implementing. Thanks.

Another bug: you can click on and access any part of the program you want right now without having completed the previous steps

Come to think of it, this is what Mark does with girls. He screens for trustworthy girls and treats then with great care and respect, expecting them to be honest and to behave as adults. There's no secret formula. That's how he gets to their panties and to our wallets Smile

So true Smile

Mark, the programs' comments are showing on the blog sidebar. It is probably bad for visitors that can not access it and for users who see their usernames published in the blog, so you may want to filter them.

If by "bad for visitors who cannot visit it" you mean "a subtle form of advertisement," then yeah you're right.

That's intentional. I just need to add a salespage to the login screen for people who aren't signed up. Haven't gotten around to it yet.

You mentioned a discount for those who complete the Approach program. Is that still on?

Once all three programs are out, there will be a discount for any member of one program to upgrade to all three programs. Haven't figured out the details yet.

Any Idea when you think the last one is coming out? I assume it's gonna be a while since I guess you want to let this one ride its course.

And another question, if the conversation program lets you go to the next lessons without actually writing your experiences, how will it know you completed it so it doesn't charge us again for the next month???

Since it said that it will stop charging when we complete it.

You email me at the end of it. And I see every write up that goes up, so I'll know if you skipped any.

RE: Suggestion for conversation program.
@Mark,
I've never seen game theory applied to these type of services but have you considered setting an option for a single purchase and refunding part of it if the use completes the program ahead of time?
Say it costs 40 bucks per month. Or 119 for a one time payment. Complete it under 2 months and you get back 20 bucks.

Values are just examples and as I said I've never seen it before, perhaps for good reason. It seems though that your main goal is to get guys to complete the program, not to maximize revenue.

Interesting idea... but I'm already getting a headache thinking about how you would implement it from the tech side.

RE: Suggestion for conversation program.
Come to think of it, money is not a very good motivator. You could offer something (perhaps the third programme on buying 2, a bonus or discount, something else) that would get guys motivated to finish the program in a reasonable time. I'm sure you can come with some interesting incentives if you find it worth to try it.

I think the BEST motivator for people is to see others who went through the program and who can share how (and how much) they improved. Humans are wired to respond to positive feedback (and yet most institutional incentive schemes are structured in exactly the opposite way). If I sign-up for this program, I plan to do just that.

On a side note (and not at all to pick on you Alvar, just want to contribute some ideas as a fledgling economist): the sort of assumptions on behavior required for game theoretic analysis to yield something useful are laughably absurd. In the past two decades, experiment after experiment is starting to show how bounded human rationality and decision-making is.
