Sexual harassment lawsuits

Here's something I've been thinking about, and I thought I'd post it in case anybody can relate.

I came of age in the 90s. It seemed like sexual harassment lawsuits were constantly in the news. In early adolescence, I was not quite sure what was appropriate or expected as far as interacting with girls/women. And I think the sex harassment issue really muddied the waters for me. I didn't really understand any of the subtleties of the situation, but I definitely absorbed the message that expressing sexual interest in a woman is sometimes a very bad thing, even illegal.

I think in subtle ways this actually affected my behavior and outlook for a long time.

Dude... I too like taking the piss out of lawyers but nah, come on. If you want to blame anyone, blame hollywood, political correctness and our mummies and daddies, in some cases the church. Also some people are just more shy than others by disposition. That said, I'm sure you'll find people who will agree with you. But I feel it's a feeble excuse.

You have to be pretty detached from reality, very insensitive or plain stupid not to realise when you're sexually harrassing someone while it's going on. Is it so hard to look at someone and judge if they're enjoying something or not? I think not. Remember the ex israeli presidents...what's his face... Moshe Katsav. So this sixty year old douche, while being a minister, starts emailing his female employees to come to work without panties on. All while being entrusted with representing the country. A penny for his thoughts in that moment.

I wasn't trying to blame anyone or make excuses.

I also wasn't trying, as my current 32 year old self, to figure out what constitutes sexual harassment.

I was describing a factor that subtly contributed to my view of what are normal ways to interact with girls and women, something that I was really struggling to get a handle on when I was 15 years old.

Sexual harassment is mostly based on the perspective of the person who is harassed. If a person does not like the way you approach them and you continue to do it, it is sexual harassment!
