Questra why are you on a rig?

Zac - I work in the oil/gas industry, used to go out to offshore/onshore oil rigs every once in awhile. They have a limit of days someone can spend offshore - usually 28. The urban legend is that you start to go a bit crazy once you've spent that many days in the middle of the sea. I did 31 days once & kinda agree

It's probably from the lack of women offshore...

Questra, are there any women on off-shore rigs?

Yup - there are. They are quite a rare occurrence though (at least on the rigs I've worked on before), so they're usually extremely popular once they arrive. But there are probably more women at the North Sea rigs off Europe, where the industry is a bit more regulated/mature.

In the absence of real women offshore, sometimes you'll run into effeminate men who will hit on other men though

Do you have more pictures of those things? I have a friend who works on huge ship engines and I've seen his pictures and they seem so boring to him but so cool to me. Do you ride in helicopters a lot?

Zac, I don't frequent the rigs as often now as my job's now planning and managing. But I've gone for a few helicopter rides in my time. They're quite cramped and stuffy, especially since you need to have full protective equipment and life jackets on.

The ocean is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Seeing other people going after it and fucking GETTING IT is one of my favorite things in life. I love seeing people doing their thing. Facebook for instance is one of the most inspiring places I've ever been.

I spent the last several days in Savannah, GA, for work conference. I have attached a picture of me groping a cannon at a Confederate fort for proof. Accenture may have several pictures of me getting several of their executives drunk which may be used as good reason to hire me in the future, or good reason to blackmail me from ever working with one of their products again.

In my time there, outside of my time sitting through barely useful presentations and my feeble attempts of professional networking, I did the following activities:
- Sang R. Kelly's "Bump N Grind" to a packed bar on River St., which was met by rousing applause from southern black dudes with dreads who were shocked some skinny Asian dude would have the nerve to do this in the South, being grinded on by female attendees, and one confused looking redneck karaoke DJ. (There may be video of this event taken by a follow conference goer).
- Made out with a hot Southern college girl while dancing to dubstep (NOTE: I hate dubstep). I probably could/should have pushed this further, she at least gave me her number and told me to give her a call if I'm ever in the ATL.
- Talked college football with anyone I could find with college paraphernalia on. Helps to have a deep knowledge of SEC football. Made friends with a Southern housewife at the golf clubhouse over Jadeveon Clowney and making fun of Clemson.
- Experienced several large bug bites cause I ran into the Georgia woods to take a piss at this Confederate fort. Probably not the best idea, but only so much Confederate fetishism this damn Yank can take.
- Been told I look "so LA" "like a model" "you immediately look like a Californian" more times than I can remember cause I look like a city slicker and wear tight pants. Made friends with some Army guys despite that.
- Had a gay marriage conversation with an old Southern white businessman at the hotel bar, who, to my pleasant surprise, told me "Fuck it! Let the gays marry! I don't give a shit! Hell, I'm divorced!"
- Ate and drank entirely too much. Got yelled at at Popeye's for referring to "cajun rice" as "dirty rice". To be fair, the food and drink were wonderful.

In short, I had a great time and Southerner's are OK with me. In fact, I now want to marry a Southern girl. Who says Asians can't do alright here? Prepare for a show called "Andrew Vs. The South" in the future.

I played a 90s cover show last weekend. Proof is attached below, I am the one playing guitar in a Charlotte Hornets hat (90s basketball is perhaps my favorite bit of 90s nostalgia). Our set of Weezer, Blur, Nirvana, and Garbage covers went better than I expected, and it confirmed everything I love and hate about playing live music.

- Hate: Getting people organized to practice. Despite us knowing this a few weeks in advance, we had at least 3 canceled practices, nearly canceled the whole thing entirely, and got one full practice in before (which started an hour late). Musicians are flaky and late, including me.
- Love: Apparently my guitar playing is still good. I don't think I'll ever be Hendrix, and I don't practice as maniacally as I did when I was 18, but a couple of my bandmates (who I had never played with before until then, and were much more experienced touring/studio musicians than me) told me, "We were worried when you said on Facebook that your guitar playing was crap now, but you were actually really good!"
- Hate: Carrying gear. I sprained my ankle carrying my amp back to the car. Damn you two flights of stairs.
- Love: The attention. I can't lie! Girls do love musicians (and I'm the only single one of the band)
- Hate: Promotion. I'm never been good at talking about myself or dragging people out, though it was a very good crowd!

I'm looking forward to the next time, where I hopefully break out my cover of Fiona Apple's "Criminal", which will hopefully be on video for you guys.
