Iran man is one of my favorite movies, where the main character Vincent - a “degenerate” - achieves the impossible in a world where genetics are everything.

Just watched James Toback's Tyson

Superb.

Four years ago, when the film was released, Tyson's future was unclear. One of the prodigies in boxing history, he had just retired -thoroughly defeated, both physically and emotionally. His post-fight interview with Kevin McBride is touching, when he admits he's just there for the payday.

Of course things turned-out better than expected, but this film superbly captures the cataclysmic rise and fall of one the most fascinating characters in boxing.

Lichter

Well directed and gripping German drama about the country's border to Poland. The themes include personal struggles with honesty, migration, money, kindness, and the contrasting cultural realities of a prosperous nation, although not without its own problems, and the societies to the east. Loved the pace of the movie.

I have been hearing about this movie from like 2 years and couldn't get some time to watch it out. It is "A Walk To Remember". Heard it is one hell of a movie, though i am not into these kind of stories but i will be checking it out, and then it is G.I.Joe and Fast 6 Big Grin

RE: Movie Recommendation Thread
I am a connoisseur of movies, the way I am a connoisseur of fine wines, vintage jets and...............titties.

And in all my time watching movies, I have never encountered a film quiet as splendidly acted, magnificently directed or well-written as Taffin: Destroyer of Worlds. The film stars Pierce "Bond" Brosnan as an Irishman on a mission to reclaim his small irish town from the evil forces of whichever ethnic group you despise most. Brosnan's role in the movie includes an incredible performance featuring the achievement of an unconvincing Irish accent despite the fact that he is himself Irish.

Also his performance includes subtle nuances of tone and delivery that echo Marlon Brando in the godfather. For reference, watch this genre-defining scene.

You can see Brosnan's restrained and natural acting at its best here, joyfully blending the method and classical forms of acting into an effortless state which could best be described as "clethodic".

The trailer does a good job of capturing the plot of the film, which has a simplicity that only serves to mask its innate complexity.

At one point in the trailer Mark Taffin makes the point that ones brain is a more powerful weapon than one's fists. You might think this statement is a bit rich coming from a man who's sole purpose in life seems to be beating the crap out of anyone who stands in his way. But in fact rather than hypocritical Taffin is instead being reverse ironic-sardonic-counter-intuitive-quantum-physics ironic which only serves to prove his point in the end.

Ultimately the movie is one slice the Godfather-two parts Fight Club-One part Terminator and one part The Notebook but don't you dare tell your friends you want to see the boy get the girl or they'll all find out your a big pansy who listens to Boy George Justin Beiber and wants to give Ryan Reynolds a reacharound.

But I digress.

In conclusion this movie is literally the greatest piece of film ever made.

You should totally watch it. Gangnam style.

End of Watch

It's about 2 police officers in the ghetto in LA.

It's quite a violent movie, but a realistic one at that. I can watch Saw movies and come away not really bothered but this movie really screws with your emotions and twists your mind.

If you liked Apocalypse Now, you'd definitely get something out of this one.

Pans Labyrinth and the Devils Backbone by Guillermo del torro. Particularly the second one, has a kind of melancholy beauty to it that is characteristic of the director.

Waking Life--fantastically bizarre/philosophical film that is basically a depiction of the dream experience on film.
American Beauty
Requiem for a Dream
Vanilla Sky
Inception
City of God (saw that it was mentioned a few times but had to include it anyway)
Memento
Spirited Away (Japanese anime film that blew me away and I am not usually into this type of movie style)
He Got Game (my favorite sports movie)
