Strategy was writing awesome shit. Seriously.

I tried various forms of link-building and SEO, but ultimately just writing really, really good stuff that people want to read gained me more visitors than anything else.

I see. As I'm constantly reading these days: "Content is king".

Looks like I should invest my time in learning better writing and making great articles, more than a fancy website and other strategies. Thanks.
