I'd say it's a symptom of your inability to let go, not the cause. So if you're trying to move on then there are probably better things to focus on than trying not to fantasize about them, which may be counterproductive anyway.

I would say yes! Granted, the longer you were with them it is likely that the sex got or was really good so it is a comfort thing. However, you are definitely holding yourself back...been there. Once I made a concious effort to stop I started getting over mine much faster. Good luck!
