most guys are ripped and have six packs

low fat population

lots of attractive people, more than other places in the US

talking santa monica and newport beach type areas, not san diego

keeping with my policy, when I post threads I will not reply to any posts, only read your replies, if there is something you want specified, well that is what this edit is for

Yes, it is exactly like that. Go there already.

edit: I don't understand your reason for making this post.

Not to be rude but does it matter? I don't think people are going to entertain these kinds of trivial questions anymore, even if you're holding back on the replies.

You're smart. I think you should know the answer to this.

Nope, everyone is fat, it's always cloudy, and it DEFINITELY doesn't need more people.

Don't believe the hype! That beach was digital!!!

99% of what you see in the media is essentially bullshit.

Regarding what you said about people being more attractive-I think people in warmer climates have a tendency to take better care of their bodies, women wear more makeup, and there is more plastic surgery. I don't think it always necessarily attractive. I spent a few years in Scottsdale AZ. The first few months I thought it was paradise;beautiful women everywhere. At the gas station, dmv, supermarket, drug store, etc. But the more time I spent there the more I realized a lot of it is makeup, plastic surgery, tanning beds and the such. After moving back to the east coast, I appreciate the women back here much more now.

I used to live in West LA and I've been to Georgia... I think I actually liked the Georgia girls more! At least as long as you stayed away from Waffle House and closer to the college campuses.

You can have that life if you want it...

I'm not a So-Cal boy, but I know people who love it down there.

I honestly think LA is one of the most overrated cities I've ever been too. But that's just me. I know there are some people who love it there.

RE: Is Southern California truly how people make it out to be in media?
I grew up in and love LA, but I can easily see why people would hate it. Not even in a "they're just jealous of us!" sort of way. It's an awful place to visit with out knowing anyone, to start. I honestly feel bad for most tourists I bump into here, and I totally see how people can hate on it (though some of the vitriol is occasionally over the top).

I honestly think if Reesays ever moved here, he would totally hate it. It's not a place to come if you're really naive about things, or don't have some sort of plan, cause 90% of the people who move here are really driven to make it at something (whether they're in entertainment or immigrants or whatever), for better and for worse. Pretty much anyone I've shown around town to my LA has said the same thing... "I like it, but it's a lot different than I thought it would be".

It all depends on where you go in LA. LA is not just one place. Hollywood is way different from the Southbay which is way different than Santa Monica and so on and so forth...

Hmm, I guess I was wrong, lol. For what it's worth, I found Los Angeles to be totally different from how I imagined it. It felt a little lackluster. I had some high expectations for reasons I cannot entirely discern. I was expecting well, gorgeous everything.

Don't get me wrong, I liked it as a city, but being there and seeing it were very different. I like to think that media's effect on Los Angeles is almost like porn's effect on women. You get these ridiculous standards that undermine real beauty.

I hope Reesays is still around here when he finally gets out there. I think he's idealized SoCal as a place that will fix all of his problems. But when he gets there one of two things will happen:

1) He'll realize it didn't fix his problems.
2) It'll fix some problems and create others.

Either way, it'll force him to grow up a little bit.

It's fantasy land, just like the movies. And behind all the gorgeous sets and gorgeous women, you'll find that a lot of them are nothing more than false fronts.

That said, if you're into it, it can be a magical place. But you had better love driving, and being traffic.

I actually left LA to fix some of my problems. Not a bad place, but like anywhere, you get sick of it.
