RE: How to raise self-esteem and confidence?
well, self-esteem is distinct from confidence, even if they are related. My definition of self-esteem is sort of the sum of how you feel about yourself in all avenues of life - career, social life, love life, health, family. In that sense, you improve on your self-esteem by just improving on all these avenues - working out, making new friends, doing kickass things in your career. This will make you feel good about your life in general.
Confidence, on the other hand, is how certain you feel about something or the prospect of something: like women, or how you'll preform when you give a speech, or something like that. You build confidence through positive experience. We, for instance, are confident about brushing our teeth because we do it every day. Or you're confident about driving because you do it a lot.
Improving your self esteem is important because it gives you a positive self image. If you've got a kickass job, great friends, and are in shape, then you'll have a lot to offer someone, and you won't care much if you are rejected because you're going back to a great life even without her. I think this is a vitally underrated part of "game".
