Haircut thread
It had been exactly 350 days since my last haircut when I got it cut today. The guy took off way more than I expected (damn you language barrier!!!) but I am actually quite happy with the results.

So yeah, post your next haircut, your favorite last haircut, or ask for some hair advice here. I'm no expert but if you provide a few pictures and a picture of yourself we might be able to crowd source some quality info.

Good dear lord. Much better.

I just want to bitch slap the left guy though. Are you tight or what? no haircut for a year. Scrooge.

RE: Haircut thread
I usuallly alter between 3 Styles. First one is a very short 3mm cut. Second is the 0815 "short on the sides, longer on top" Big Grin, and sometimes i just let it grow. But i don't really like the effort i have to put in if my hair is too long, just looks kinda scruffy if i don't use any wax.

But more important: Who are the girlies in the back? Wink

RE: Haircut thread
A haircut thread, yay! I've been growing out my hair for about a year now. You handled your haircut way better than I would have. My mind's eye was watering when the lady trimmed my hair a little bit ;(.

It's good to see someone out there likes growing their hair out. I've been told to get a haircut because I look like either a girl or a hippie. I didn't much mind this at all because I was never going to see these people again.

It's not really a haircut but it's a picture of me from a couple of months ago. It was at Madame Tussauds. If anyone's interested, I had a keratine treatment to tame my hair because it would get these horribly annoying curves to it. It's more manageable now. I recommend it.

Please disregard the wax sculpture next to me. Not exactly the statue I want next to me when I want to look the best by comparison haha.

[Image: scaled.php?server=856&filename=p...es=landing]

I'm going to let it grow even more! I wanted to have hair that reaches my chest. That's the cutoff point haha.

By the way, Zac, your hair turned out very nice. It's good that you have relatively straight hair. My hair used to be like yours but the bangs would madly curve inside towards my forehead -.-. It wasn't the best look for me.

Dude, your hair looks sick. Don't let people tell you to cut your hair. I have been getting that for 6 months at least. Do you, although I'm sure I don't have to tell you that. Thanks for the compliment =)

Thanks, Zac. It's nice to finally have someone tell me something positive about it! And I won't cut it for others. That's something I've been very intense about. I've had too many bad hair days to do that haha.

Traindom - I concur with Zac. That's a pretty good hairstyle already.

I'm actually thinking of getting a haircut myself so this thread came along at the right time Smile

Is it just me or does Traindom look like an old Brad Pitt? Nice watch too.

Bit sticky though the whole scene.

Dude, Zac you kinda look like Jay Cutler.

Minus the smug expression and perennially pissed off look, of course.

Traidom, dude, you should let it grow, it looks good. That's my non-expert, straight man opinion.

I didn't cut my hair between July 2010 and last April. From the Autumn on, it looked "fucking ridiculous", as Mystery would say. It was also one of the best things I did for my self, after spending 33 years combing my hair the right way. For once in my life, I didn't care what my hair looked like or what other people though of it. I did even wear pink hair pieces from my daughter, for my ponytail.
Eventually I decided that I should act my age. Besides, I am loosing my hair.

Thanks, Alvar! Yes, I realized over these past several months that it really is quite the journey. I went through the phases. I had bad hair days, constant paranoia about what others thought, and so much more. I know it may sound a little ridiculous to the people who have never grown out their hair but it's been quite an enriching journey. I've learnt people will always be critical of me and I shouldn't act at their behest.

It's taught me to stand strong for what I want first. I've learnt that it's okay to prioritize my dreams and aspirations in terms of hair, diet, and training as well as my way of attaining my goals.

Thanks for the support, Alvar. It's good to hear that it was a great experience for you too.

An elegant way to say you are too lazy to go to the hairdresser ;P

Just joking, I had that already. Yeah, a lot of "looks like a girl" bullshit, i remember that.

You have a very attractive face, i guess it almost doesnt matter which haircut you have. There are a lot of women that love long hair - if those are your type, go for it Wink

Maybe cause long wavy hair always gets fatty? And if you exercise every day or at least every other day like many do ... long hair ain't so hot when it's drenched in sweat.

Fabio on the other hand....

RE: Haircut thread
Thanks for the compliment, RoyTS. I feel that the length helps frame my face, which I think really helps. I'm worried about short hairstyles because the sides of my lower face are pretty prominent and rounded. Very short hairstyles in the past created a strong contrast that highlighted these negative features. With the long hair, I can somewhat hide the sides of my face.

All is well with the hair. I can finally put it in a ponytail, albeit with difficulty. The low ponytail is the most comfortable ponytail at the moment. And I just had a trim, haha. I was pretty scared about getting it trimmed. I'm very protective of it because growing it out has been quite the experience. There were many bad hair days. And there still are, hah.

RE: Haircut thread
I was sat next to a neurotic guy at the barbers last summer. I had to wait while the kid brought out his phone and - close to tears - showed the barber what it really was he had wanted. He had a good 25 shots of the back of his head stored in his phone. They all looked exactly like what he had received, maybe a half an inch trim to a straight long hair cut. But of course that wasn't satisfying. Eventually they offered the guy a voucher for a free cut in future because he was so discontent with the service provided.

Gotta say though, that was one nice phone Traindom.

RE: Haircut thread
Twenty-five shots? It sounds like he was very protective of his hair. Why'd he find it so unsatisfying?

I was reading this blog post that said that men who grow out their hair tend to be very protective of it, which I thought was a fair assertion. It makes sense. Men are going to be protective of the thing that they've waited a lot of time for that can be lost quickly. A half inch doesn't sound too bad compared to what could have happened. I remember seeing this video of a guy who had REALLY long hair that went in for a wash and came out with about two-thirds of his hair left on his head. And he lost it with a steel comb. Rough stuff.

Here's the video if you are interested:
