Fear of your deep voice?
I usually breath somewhat shallowly when I speak and I feel weird when I'm breathing more deeply when I speak. I fear my own power, I feel intimidating, as it were, does anyone else feel the same way or have any practical tips to become more comfortable and less afraid of my own voice? Thanks.

RE: Fear of your deep voice?
I don't feel afraid of my deeper voice, I just have never gotten around to consciously trying to deepen it. I know Mark says it's very attractive to have a deeper voice, so it's probably worth doing at some point, but up until now I've just been fine with it deepening as I age.

What's wrong with being intimidating with a deep voice? I can't think of anyone with a voice that's so deep I'm literally afraid of them. They would have to be saying something intimidating too for it to do so, in which case it would be an advantage for their voice to reinforce that.

RE: Fear of your deep voice?
Could this also be "fear of your louder voice"?
I still have both, to a certain extent. It's the fear of invading someone's space, the fear of getting other people's uninvited attention, fear of taking a stance, of being impolite, fear of standing for what you are communicating. I notice it because when I speak to my kids my voice is usually powerful and clear.
I tried in March to work on my voice and I did notice some slight improvements. What I have noticed is that working on my own beliefs and timidness has been taking care of these almost automatically. Note saying that speaking meekly is not a (bad) habit that can be overridden with consistent practice -in my case I have a hard time following on, just that there is a strong psychological component to it.
