Experiences vs. Goals
Since joining this forum I have achieved a lot of what I was hoping to achieve - I have found a cute, funny, and interesting girlfriend; I have increased my productivity/generally gotten my life together; I have stepped up my style and grooming, etc. However I feel like I may not be as productive as I can be in the pursuit of my goals, and that I tend to be sidetracked on some goals by spending time with my girlfriend, time with friends, etc.

My main goals right now are improving my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and improving my music production. I currently end up finding time every day to work on these, either through direct practice or through reading/research. The issue is that the more time I spend on them, the faster I will improve, but if I spend all my time doing those two things I will not have time to spend with my girlfriend, my friends, etc. To bring it to specifics, today I had planned on researching some mixing tutorials and spending a few hours practicing, but I ended up going to play chess and slack line in the park with some friends I rarely see. These were both things I had a great time doing, but it ultimately set me back in the pursuit of my goals.

How do you guys approach finding a balance between the two?

I know this is a big/vague question, but I would love any input as I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I can clarify anything that is not clear. Thanks.
