"Sorry, currently our video library can only be watched from within the United States"
Sad

Exercising can make you a happier person, say positive psychologists. Prof. Tal Ben-Shahar says that exercising 3x 30min a week is enough for most sedentary persons: Here's a video of one of his lectures.

The guy in that video lost over 80lb within 60 days with ZERO exercise lol. While exercise is good overall for the body, it's ultimately comes down to your diet to give you good health and loss of fat.

Right now there's a bodybuilder on bb.com claiming that he can cut to 5% bf while eating half his calories from ice cream. Honestly, if you get some stuff right, you can really do whatever you want.

In this case, it's more of a matter of a fat guy doing anything right rather than nothing.

That's 40 lbs (18Kg) each month. Not only I think is very unlikely, I also think is completely unhealthy. Maximum weight loss shall be around 3 kg / month (7 Lbs / month)

I watched that whole documentary on Netflix. Very good, but the message gained should be more along the lines of "Let's avoid processed foods, and begin to add raw foods with nutrients into our diets." Change is difficult and comes with consequences, and maintaining that diet beyond a focused time of 3 or so months will be difficult, but do-able if one really wants to.

I train so I can move better and live my life the way I want to. Everyone has different reasons. If you can control your diet to get down to 5% BodyFat, by all means go ahead. I'd rather hover around 10-15% BodyFat, have the ability to squat, press, and deadlift more than the average, eat reasonably healthy foods, and be able to sprint, play ball etc.

Learn the principles, but don't be consumed by someone else's purpose in life, when you have your own to live.

If your dog was 5% body fat, you wouldn't be "mirin' those thick, dense gains". You would be charged with animal neglect.

There's no need to be sub-10% bf unless you're a fitness model or professional bodybuilder IMO.

5 percent body fat is just not humanly possible for most human unless you have insane genetic, insane diet + insane training.

8 percent body fat on the other hand actually do give you the best "lookwise" physique, and also extremely hard to get as well.

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draf...All&sort=7

Body fat percentages of NBA players as they were measured during the draft combine. Granted, NBA players are freakishly proportioned and are among the top 1% of all athletes on this planet, but if you're hovering around 5-6% body fat, you should be as ripped as an NBA guard or wingman. Though I wonder how the hell Aaron Brooks and Dahntay Jones are under 3%, even for guys who are genetic freaks and whose job is to run around all day.

nba players are on average 6'6-7 foot tall. If you're that tall, it's easy to be 5 percent body fat lol.

Also, some NBA players don't even look like they go to the gym, even though their physical condition is among the best in the world. It's hard to look big when you're that tall.

One of my buddy who's 6'3 and he ate like a pig. His kitchen has a mountain PILE of soda and he ate chips everyday. Granted, he's far from a 6 pack, but had he been average height, he'll EASILY be a fat ass. Heights makes a huge difference in how much you can get away with eating like a fucking pig lol.

Well yea, obviously if you're really tall, you're naturally gonna carry a bit more body mass and have a higher base metabolism, plus if you've ever stood next to an NBA guy those guys are all freakishly proportioned (guys who are 6-8 shouldn't have 30 inch waists... though really football players are even more freakishly proportioned than that). Point is, a) if you're talking 5% body fat, that's really elite athlete level fitness and b) genetics play a huge role for everyone. Everyone responds differently to diet and lifestyle. Sure, a guy off the internet can eat ice cream all day and be cut, and my best friend from college can eat hot dogs and fried food and have a six pack, and Chad Johnson can eat McDonald's 3 times a day and Allen Iverson can eat chicken wings and cognac and be better athletes than I could ever imagine, but would that really be applicable in my situation? You have to be honest with yourself and your diet and your lifestyle, it's not as simple as "do this and I will lose weight", you have to evaluate the whole equation and how your body responds to it.

Aside from having a balance diet, exercise can make us more healthy. Adding exercise to our life can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes, improve joint stability, improve and increase range of movement, and improve mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

You can get your bf % calculated in a few ways, with the most effective being water displacement (which calculates your bf by how much water you displace in a pool relative to your total weight) but the simplest is with calipers. I get this done at my gym but I imagine there are other places. Give it a google...
