Can men and women be just friends?

Here's my experience. I have a few female friends, some are hot and some clearly are not. The only ones that i can honestly say there's zero sexual tension are the fat and ugly one.

I have stated in my previous post about the fat mexican one. That one is PURE friendship, i literally felt zero attraction for her. Ironically, i still dont think it was "pure friendship" on her part. I was attracted to this other skinny blonde mexican chick in the class and the fat one asked me if i'm into her. I said, yeah. She then said "yeah, she's quite pretty" but there's definitely a bitterness in her voice...lol. Go figure.

Now, did it cause me to be into my fat friend after i discover she likes me? Hell no, but it flatter my ego lol

I've kind of been of this mindset for a long time. I have had multiple female "friends" who, given to unusual circumstances, I ended up hooking up with. In most cases we chose to remain friends afterwards and not continue hooking up, but it ended up proving that platonic friendship between sexes rarely exists unless you aren't at all attracted to the other person.

Have you guys seen this? I haven't read it in a while, but its pretty funny http://www.laddertheory.com/ I don't remember if its from there or somewhere else, but I always think of the scenario of: If she would come out of the bathroom naked and said fuck me, would you do it? Assuming I wasn't in a relationship at the time, for a good portion of my female friends the answer would be yes..

That video is genius... Well I would say for the most part men and women can't be just friends... but it actually CAN happen... all you need is great connection with zero sexual tension in both sides.

I've got maybe 2 or 3 female friends that fall in that category. I would probably fuck anyone of them if she just appeared naked in my bed, but for the most part we're just friends, I have no intentions towards them and we still have a great time whenever and they don't have any feelings or intentions about me at all (that I'm aware of anyway). And they are hot enough but there's something there that just kills my sexual attraction.

That kind of relations are so rare I actually value them a lot.

Funny video. I don't think the fact that the guy would jump on his female friend means the friendship isn't a good one, though. We guys just see sex in different ways, and clearly don't care about the consequences for the relationship..

I think they can, if and ONLY if, the man is unattracted to the woman. As in, he wouldn't want his dick anywhere near her. I've been there both times. I had an overweight friend who I hooked up with after she lost weight and looked good, and it became a mess. I also have another friend who's still very fat, and I've never even THOUGHT of making a move on her.

The idea that you can't be friends with somebody unless there is no sexual tension whatsoever is silly. Guys are completely capable of deciding they'd rather be friends with women for whom they feel some level of attraction. It's a false dichotomy. In addition, you can totally have sex with a girl once and stay friends.

What is true is, if you are a hot 19 year old girl, your guy "friends" probably all really wanna bang you. The video proved that and was really funny, but it doesn't really show that men and women can't be friends.

I've done the research, and I can indeed confirm that you can have sex with a female friend once and remain friends.

Yeah I agree that having sexual feelings for someone doesn't mean you can't be friends. I'm lucky enough to have enough awesome people in my life that if I slept with anyone I found attractive and interesting I would literally not have time to do anything else. There's plenty of guys in my social circle that in the right circumstances I would, but due to other factors (we work together, they're with someone, i'm with someone, don't see each other much, would mess up a social circle I like etc etc etc ) nothing happens with. Doesn't mean we can't genuinely enjoy each other's company for other reasons.

Basically, I think you can be friends if you can deal with the idea of them hooking up with someone else, for either gender. If you're going to get really pissy and jealous over it it's probably not the best idea. I also third the notion that you can sleep with someone just once or twice and still be friends, but I'd say gays and lesbians deal with it way better than straight people.
