Approaching Women - Question

Hi guys.

I need a little help.
Any suggestions for replacing the question "Where are you from?/Are you from (city where i live)?" with another question.

Asking this where i live will seem pretty weird. Of course every girl i'll talk to is from my city. It's very rare to find a foreigner here.

P.S: I lack imagination and creativity, i know.

In my opinion, creativity is overrated. 90% of the time I approach with " Hey! I saw you over there (sometimes I add you seem interesting) I had to say hello. I'm Dan. Who are you?" Then I usually ask where she's from. If she says my city, I say it's refreshing to meet someone who is actually from here. If she says somewhere else I go into something I know about that place or an experience I had there. This works best for me because if I try to be creative or use canned bullshit it comes off as disingenuous and the subcommunications are just as important as the verbal communication.

Also in my opinion simple and direct helps approach because if you sit around waiting for the best pick up line in history to come to you, you will either a) not approach or b) by the time it comes to you the situation will become more difficult (e.g. other dudes are talking to her, multiple bitch friends, sitting in weird formation, etc.).

Let me clarify. I'm also into simple and direct. But i want to find a replacement for this:

I'm sure this is a very normal and reasonable question in cities in U.S, U.K, Germany e.t.c, where you'll find a lot of people from other places (for example, i've seen a lot of videos of guys doing daygame in London and where they meet a lot of foreign women or women from other U.K cities). But in my place it's kind of weird.

So after going direct, maybe replace it with something like asking if she's going shopping or something like that?
Does it really make a difference what the follow up question will be?

tends to feel a lot more comfortable and gets conversations going better by replacing your questions with statements like that (thanks mark haha)

Tell me about where you are from?
What was it like where you grew up?
What do you like about your home town?
Are there any more cute girls in your home town?
I bet my home town could kick your home town's ass!
You look like you are from ...
I bet your home town had great ice cream or xxxx
Tell me the favorite thing about your home.
When you were a little girl and you got all excited about going to the park, Was it the swings or the playground bars?

It is pretty easy, think about what you like about your home or city or country and ask her about that same thing? Or even say something about how much you enjoyed xx in your home town, ask her what she liked.
It is pretty easy when you are honest about your past and want to share it with her.
